CALLS FOR PAPERS:

Blue Pine Books invites submissions of papers on the topic "Buddhism and
Peace" for possible inclusion in an upcoming publication of collected articles.
The resulting book will investigate peace and justice from the theoretical and
practical perspectives of the vast array of Buddhist traditions. Within the
frame of Buddhism and Peace, submissions may address such issues as the individual
and peace, society and conflict resolution, scriptural bases for/against engaged
Buddhist practices, the vinaya and peacemaking, historical examples of Buddhism
and peace, today's engaged Buddhism in historical context. From these or similar
points of reference, submissions should address and contribute to the development
of the theory and practices of socially engaged Buddhism.

GUIDELINES: Electronic submissions are acceptable in Word, WordPerfect, PDF or HTML formats. Please use standard academic style (Chicago or MLA). References must be cited in full. Papers should be written primarily in the English language with Asian citations in transliteration or Asian scripts.
Blue Pine Books invites submissions of papers on the topic "Venerable
Daewon and His Peace Activities" for inclusion in an upcoming publication
of collected articles. The book is designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary
(since 1975) of his propagation of Buddhism in the U.S.
Articles will investigate the life and work of Venerable Daewon, founder of
the International Seminar on Buddhism and Leadership for Peace in 1983, from
theoretical and practical perspectives. Submissions may address such issues
as his life, philosophy, friendships, propagation of Buddhism, peace activities
and so on. Papers may also describe Venerable Daewon's peace activities based
on contributors' personal relations and experience with him.
Other possible topics for submissions include such general issues as the individual
and peace, society and conflict resolution, scriptural bases for/against engaged
Buddhist practices, the vinaya (discipline) and peacemaking, historical examples
of Buddhism and peace, today's engaged Buddhism in historical context. From
these and similar points of reference, submissions should address and contribute
to the development of the theory and practices of socially engaged Buddhism.
